Mel Karakochuk
Mel Karakochuk leads the finance team with expertise in accounting, audit, financial consulting and investigations and is responsible for financial strategy, profit growth and access to resources that will help the company meet its growth targets. Mel brings extensive international experience in accounting, technology, mining and taxation.
Mel joined Morris Industries in May 2012. Prior to joining Morris, Mel worked at International Road Dynamics (IRD) for eight years, the last six as Chief Financial Officer. Mel has also worked in a Partnership providing financial consulting and financial investigation services in Canada and the Caribbean, as CFO of a publicly traded technology company, as Manager Corporate Reporting and Taxation of a major uranium mining company and as an audit specialist in an international accounting firm.
Mel has his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan. As well, he has his Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) designation and is qualified in the Court of Queen’s Bench for Saskatchewan and Alberta as an expert in the field of accounting and in the area of examining financial statements.
Currently Mel is an advisor to the Board of the Saskatoon Region Association of Realtors on financial matters.
Mel was born and raised in Saskatchewan, and lives in Saskatoon with his wife Debra. In his free time, Mel enjoys running, cycling, skiing, and family time at the cottage.
